About Us

We're on a mission to make climbing fun. Are you in?

monopkt. was founded by Jackelyn Ho and Nick Smith. They met at Planet Granite in Sunnyvale, CA during the summer of 2016 and quickly became partners in both climbing and in life. They now call Fort Collins, CO home. Jackelyn has a background in fitness, writing, and marketing. Nick is a mechanical engineer.

When they’re not working or training, they’re most likely on a climbing trip, jamming their fingers, elbows, hands, toes, and nose into obscure cracks for some serious type 2 fun.

From our first ever monopkt. shoot with our silly friends at Joshua Tree NP.
From our wedding in May 2021 in Kanab, UT!

What is monopkt.?

Pronounced as "mono-pocket", this is a climbing hold in which you can only fit one finger.

monopkt. was founded on the idea that climbing should be equal parts challenging and fun. We spent many-a-day at the crag wincing over lost skin, trembling between bolts, and panicking at the top out on a high ball boulder. In between these hard and growing moments were always happy ones, filled with silly jokes and the best of friends. This dramatic rollercoaster is the exact reason we climb.

We wanted our gear to capture those moments.

monopkt. is like...

  • Dipping your hands into a fresh, full chalk bag
  • Throwing onto a jug that you thought was a sloper
  • Strongly sending a route that once felt impossible

We’re that warm, fuzzy, just-feels-right kind of place. Welcome to the fam.

Sustainability

We are members of 1% For The Planet®, where we are committed to donating 1% of our gross sales to environmental non-profits.

In addition, we print our designs on eco-friendly shirts - yay! Our shirt manufacturer uses efficient dye machines, which reduces water usage by 24 million gallons a week. Any water that is used is also recycled - cool, right? They also pride themselves in “virtually no waste”, where all extra fabric trimmings are recycled into stuffing. All of our product is also printed locally in Los Angeles, CA.

In addition, they manufacture their tees in the U.S. and internationally in a no-sweat-shop and humane environment. They also have a W.R.A.P. certification which includes:
